The event filled a Manhattan hotel ballroom, with Tarantino drawing what a Friars spokesman said were 2,270 guests, setting a new record for the organization, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Legendary roaster Jerry Lewis showed up for the event, along with stars including Uma Thurman, Howard Stern, Kathy Griffin, Sarah Silverman and Brett Ratner.

Samuel L. Jackson, who served as roastmaster, cited Tarantino's love for Elvis Presley and interest in divers film genres, including urban movies, and quipped that he wanted to make sure to introduce the directore the way he would want it - - as "Quentin Super Fly Tarantino Presley".
